Spring event featuring Encanto a success

Cerritos College hosted a Spring Community Event on April 27, beginning with a screening of Disney’s Encanto, followed by an open house in the college’s Performing Arts Center.  Attended by community members, the free event featured live music, coloring, a tour of the costuming department and scene shop, and free giveaways featuring Raising Cane’s. Labor study shows Cerritos College grows local economy half a billion dollars

A recent labor market study commissioned by the Los Angeles Regional Consortium in collaboration with Lightcast showcased Cerritos College as an economic engine, contributing $537.4 million to the local economy. The study evaluated the economic impact and investment returns of Cerritos College, highlighting the institution's dedication to excellence in education, workforce development, and community engagement... High school automotive students

Cerritos College hosts high school automotive technology competition

The Automotive Technology Department hosted a high school automotive technology competition on April 20. Fourteen teams from Los Angeles County exhibited their auto technology skills using the college’s fleet donated by GM, Nissan, Subaru, and Stellantis. The top five teams won Snap-On tools and equipment. The Greater LA New Car Dealers Association (GLANCDA) funded the prizes and the lunch for the event. Thank you, automotive faculty and staff, for organizing the event to motivate students to demonstrate their skills to industry professionals.

Woodworking students create a survivor bell sculpture for American Heart Association

The Cerritos Student Association of Woodworkers (CSAW) collaborated with the American Heart Association to create a survivor bell sculpture. The sculpture was unveiled at the American Heart Association's Heart and Stroke walk event on April 13. Participants who crossed the finish line rang the bell to celebrate their victory. Development Coordinator of the Association Mackenzie Bunting expressed her gratitude to the student, "I am sincerely grateful for you and your group for bringing this vision to life; it means a lot to many people. We will be able to use the bell at our Orange County, Inland Empire, and Coachella Valley walks for years to come." 

Faculty award winners

Faculty honored for outstanding service

Twenty faculty members were honored for their service and mentorship to students during the Outstanding Faculty Awards ceremony on April 25. Organized by the Faculty Senate and the Professional Relations Committee, the event was attended by faculty members, administrators, staff, and students. The Most Outstanding Faculty award was presented to Dr. Ken Matsuura, counselor, for his strong commitment to students.... Link to the full story about the faculty awards

A Chorus Line coming to Performing Arts Center
